American Cursive

Homework Hashtag: #kcaamericancursive

Intro:

American Cursive is a form of business penmanship that will elevate even the simplest of writing assignments. Whether you are writing a letter to a friend, sending a thank you note, or addressing business correspondence, even in the digital age there is always a need for legible, formal handwriting. This two-part class will introduce you to Michael Sull’s American Cursive and give you the instruction you need to build a strong foundation of cursive handwriting skill.

Materials Needed:

  • Guide Sheets: You can print your own here (https://lanquach.com/)
  • Mechanical Pencil: GraphGear 500 Pentel 0.5 (my personal favorite)
  • Eraser: kneaded erasers are excellent for final projects that need a delicate touch. White erasers are also excellent.
  • Cardstock: If you are working on a final project such as a card or bookmark, be sure to use the best paper you can afford. Cardstock that is 32 lb. or higher will make a quality presentation.
  • Pigma Micron 05 Archival Ink Markers: These come in a variety of colors and sizes. I personally like 05, or smaller, in black for writing standard handwriting.
  • (optional) Light Board: These come in various sizes and price points. Even an inexpensive board that is 16”X12” will be helpful for practicing.
